The Acknowledgement Page
The Acknowledgement Page is a tool for recognizing and appreciating people for their assistance and support. Generally, an acknowledgement page is of at most one page in length and is optional. It consists of a brief but complete description of the services, suggestions and support provided by people, and that contributed in any form during the buildup of your project or dissertation. If permission to use any copyrighted material is taken from its respective authority, then the authority should be acknowledged for granting this permission. Remember that giving credit to others for their valuable support does not affect your position and reputation but on the contrary, not acknowledging others for their support and ideas is not a good approach. So should I include everyone’s contribution to my acknowledgement page? No not at all, only state the major contributions or the contributions and support worth mentioning. All minor contributions should be acknowledged, but in a generic fashion. For example:
“My heartfelt thanks to everyone at xyz and all others whose names I did not mention, but who contributed in any form towards the successful completion of the dissertation.”
